Groundwater Investigation

Groundwater Investigation
In the Spring of 2008, we began to observe a pattern whereby bacteria counts in the raw water source (prior to treatment) entering the primary well would spike following severe rain events. Though this phenomenon never compromised the safety of the drinking water entering Raspberry Falls' homes, and drinking water quality at Raspberry Falls has always met State and Federal standards for safe drinking water, we conducted a thorough investigation in cooperation with the Virginia Department of Health and a small group of Raspberry Falls residents. In the Fall of 2009, the Virginia Department of Health completed its analysis of the groundwater feeding Raspberry's primary well, and made the determination that it is not being influenced by surface water, nor is it at risk of being influenced by surface water. This means no change to the groundwater source, treatment, or monitoring protocol is required. If someone was interested in understanding the whole investigation from start to finish, the following documents (Weekly/Monthly Communications) capture it in chronology from the bottom up. These Updates were e-mailed to residents and other interested parties who requested them.
