Lenah Run

Water is supplied to Lenah Run by two community wells. Water quality from these wells is high, and the only form of treatment provided to the water is the addition of a disinfectant to aid in assuring that water quality does not degrade in the distribution system. The system includes a storage tank to help meet the demands of peak periods and provide water during temporary power losses. Nearly half of the residents of Lenah Run are served water through a separate, elevated pressure, booster pump system. This separate, elevated pressure zone is required to assure all residents of the community have appropriate water pressure.

Wastewater is collected and treated to a high degree at the community's own wastewater treatment plant (WWTP). Here, most organic material and nutrients are removed through biological treatment and denitrification before being disinfected and discharged in a low-pressure distribution system. The distribution system, located in fields in the community, is rather shallow, so care should be taken to assure that activities such as horseback riding and operation of any vehicle (including lawn mowing equipment) do not damage the subsurface piping. In fact, these activities should not take place on these fields during wet weather.
