Loudoun Water asks you to please water wisely

Date: June  02, 2011

Dear Resident,

Earlier this spring, Loudoun Water asked you to follow the same water conservation recommendations that we ask of our Central System customers, namely to follow a two-day-a-week watering schedule based on your house numbers. Irrigation and landscaping experts agree that watering every three days is best for your lawn and plants, even in dry conditions. Overwatering can promote shallow root growth and fungus.

With warming temperatures, here’s a reminder of the watering schedule: Odd addresses should water Wednesday and Saturday; even addresses, Thursday and Sunday. Avoid watering between 10am and 4pm because the water tends to evaporate before reaching the soil and is therefore wasted.

While using water wisely is always a good rule to live by, as you know, Raspberry Falls is currently being served by one well until Well F is placed online. Work on Well F has reached its final stages, however, due to weather-related delays, it will be placed into service later this month.

Your continued cooperation in adhering to the two-day-a-week schedule will help manage elevated demands in the community. If demand is not effectively managed, Loudoun Water may need to ask for voluntary, or even mandatory restrictions.

Thank you for your consideration and assistance. We will provide you with details on Well F when we bring it online (barring additional weather-related delays) later this month.

Sincerely,

Loudoun Water
