Emergency Plan Exercise

Date: December  21, 2010

Update re: Email letter to Residents, December 21, 2010:  Emergency plan exercise conducted December 22, 2010 was successful.

Dear Raspberry Falls Resident:

In the wake of the Virginia Department of Health’s determination on November 23, 2010, that Well PW-1 is under the direct influence of surface water or GUDI, Loudoun Water is moving forward with additional improvements and reviewing options to increase the system’s reliability.

As part of our continuing efforts to keep you updated on key developments, Loudoun Water would like to inform you that we will be conducting a dry run of our emergency response plan to be enacted if, for any reason, Well PW-2 is unable to be used a source for water.

Weather permitting, the dry run will occur Wednesday, December 22nd, beginning at 11am.  It will consist of bringing in a large, potable water tanker truck via the water treatment plant’s access road, Raspberry Plain Lane.  All aspects of the emergency supply process will be verified with one important exception; no water will actually be transferred from the tanker to the storage tank.  We will be able to simulate key conditions without conducting an actual transfer.

There should not be a disruption in the community, however, we wanted you to know in advance in case the presence of the tanker on site caused undue concern.

If you have more questions about the dry run, please reply to this email or contact Loudoun Water Customer Service at (571) 291-7880.  For the latest information on Raspberry Falls’ water system, please visit our website at loudounwater.org.  Click on the Community Systems link on our homepage and then the link for Raspberry Falls.
