Notes from the Public Hearing

Loudoun Water has adopted a resolution signifying its intention to adopt the following changes to its water and wastewater Rates, Fees and Charges.

Preliminary Schedule of Rates to be effective on or after April 1, 2008

Metered Rates for Continuing Service

Water
This schedule shall apply to all customers located in the communities of Beacon Hill, Elysian Heights, Lenah Run, Raspberry Falls, The Reserve at Rokeby Farm, Selma and all new subdivisions receiving water from a community water system owned by the Authority:

  Proposed
Basic quarterly charge  $26.50
Uniform Rate per 1,000 gallons for customers whose accounts were in existence (either active or inactive status) during the whole of the preceding winter quarter (1) $2.55
Uniform Rate per 1,000 gallons for customers whose accounts were established during or subsequent to the preceding winter quarter $2.72

Peak Use Charge per 1,000 gallons for usage more than the greater of 6,000 gallons or 30% above winter quarter usage (2)

(1) The winter quarter billing period is defined as any quarterly billing period based on meter readings obtained or estimated in the months of February through April.
(2) For consumption in excess of the amounts identified above in the June through November billing periods by customers whose accounts were in existence during the whole of the preceding winter quarter billing period.

Wastewater
This schedule shall apply to the communities of Courtland Rural Village, Elysian Heights, Lenah Run, Raspberry Falls, Selma and all new subdivisions receiving metered water service and discharging sewage and/or polluted wastes into a community wastewater system owned by the Authority:

Basic quarterly charge  $23.27
Uniform Rate per 1,000 gallons $4.00

The wastewater charge for all residential customers with a 5/8 meter discharging sewer and/or polluted wastes into the Authoritys system of sewers and receiving metered water will be the less of (A) the customers actual quarterly consumption, or (B) the customers winter quarter (1) consumption plus 3,000 gallons. The wastewater charge for all residential customers whose accounts were established during or subsequent to the preceding winter quarter will be limited to the lesser of (A) the customers actual quarterly consumption, or (B) 24,000 gallons.

(1) The winter quarter billing period is defined as any quarterly billing period based on meter readings obtained or estimated in the months of February through April.

 

ALL OTHER RATES, FEES AND CHARGES CURRENTLY IN FORCE SHALL REMAIN UNCHANGED.

The Loudoun Water Board of Directors will consider these proposed changes in rates, fees and charges at its April 10, 2008, Board meeting. Any changes adopted by the Board will be effective for usage on or after April 1, 2008. A public hearing on the foregoing will be held Tuesday, March 25, 2008, at 6:00 p.m. at the Authority Administration Office, 880 Harrison Street, SE, Leesburg Virginia. All interested parties are invited to attend to express their views.
