Winter Watch: Protect Your Pipes

It doesn't take long for meters and pipes to freeze during extreme cold spells, especially when temperatures dip below 32F. If your pipes or meter freezes, you will not have water. As we head into the coldest months of the season, it's important to protect your pipes as much as possible. Preventative measures include:

Protect Your Pipes: Fall Edition

Protect your pipes this fall and take the time to disconnect and turn off the water connection to your hose bib(s) outside. Taking a few minutes to do this can help prevent costly errors and expenses down the road. It may feel warm out now, but chilly weather is just around the corner.

When temperatures outside drop, water can expand and freeze in pipes, which puts a lot of stress on pipes that contain it. This usually happens to outdoor hose bibs and water supply pipes in unheated areas like basements and garages.

Overseeding: Optimizing You Water Usage

Hot summer temperatures can do a lot of damage to lawns, causing them to brown and become patchy. Instead of trying to overseed or lay new sod while it's still very hot out, take steps to ensure you are optimizing your efforts and water usage.

What is overseeding? It's when you plant grass seen directly into the existing turf without having to tear up your lawn or soil as a way to fill in bare spots and increase the density of your grass.
