Loudoun Water’s drinking water comes from the Potomac River to customer taps via our wholesaler, Fairfax Water, or the Trap Rock Water Treatment Facility (TRWTF). Loudoun Water recognizes the heavy reliance on the Potomac River as a water supply source and wants to proactively create a backup plan in the case of an emergency contamination event in the Potomac River.

The Goose Creek Emergency Water Supply Connection Project will provide the infrastructure to transport water from the Goose Creek Reservoir to the TRWTF for treatment in the event of an emergency. This project will provide resiliency to Loudoun Water customers until the construction of off-river quarry reservoir storage is complete near the end of 2023.
