Loudoun Water has the following Summer Job Opportunities:
Laborer Position (Line Maintenance): Primary duties include:
-Working outdoors in various weather conditions
-Cleaning and painting fire hydrants, piping, machinery, and other various equipment. Yard maintenance such as mowing grass and weed eating.
-Cleaning Loudoun Water buildings and vehicles and other manual work as needed.
Laborer Position (Facilities & Grounds): Primary duties include:
-General landscaping: Weed removal, tree and bush pruning, trash removal, weed eating and edging. (Use of small hand help power equipment such as weed eater and blower), exterior window cleaning, plant pruning and watering.
-Helping with general day to day custodial needs.
-Assisting maintenance personnel with repairs of facilities such as: Light bulb replacement, HVAC filter replacement, Safety Inspections, day to day building inspections
Laboratory: Essential functions include:
-Assist in receipt and the analysis of samples for physical, chemical, and microbiological analyses.
-Coordinate with chemical and equipment inventory and maintenance.
-Perform and maintain good laboratory practices, housekeeping and safety procedures.
-Other duties and projects as assigned.
Planning & Water Resources: The ideal candidate should be currently working towards a Bachelors or Graduate degree in civil or environmental engineering or a related science. Essential Functions include:
-Provide support to a wide range of activities associated with planning and operations of drinking water, wastewater, and reclaimed water systems and in support of project management-focused objectives.
-Compile and update water authority project information.
-Prepare data and apply water system models with supervision.
-Learn and apply Loudoun Water GIS tools to support water system planning.
-Perform data analysis and sampling support for ongoing water research studies.
-Assist in preparation of technical memoranda and project communications.
-Support miscellaneous activities associated with the authority’s surface water sources.
Water Operations: Essential functions include:
-Report in person daily at Loudoun Water’s drinking water treatment plants
-Collection, laboratory analysis, and data management of non-compliant water samples, sludge/solids samples (sludge created via the treatment process
-Assisting operators in daily routine and nonroutine plant operational duties
-Provide support to operations staff for ongoing research/studies.
-Assist in inputting backlogged bench data.
-Assist with reviewing, filing and disposal, as needed, of historical records.
Water Operations – Plant Engineering: The ideal candidate should have completed a minimum of two years bachelor’s degree in civil or environmental engineering or a related science and have an interest in drinking water treatment and water distribution systems. An electrical or energy management course experience would be beneficial for some tasks. Essential Functions include:
-Perform field work like collecting and analyzing water samples and site investigations
-Provide support associated with water treatment focused projects.
-Compile and analyze data using Microsoft Office programs or other statistical software.
-Assist in project communication and technical writing.
Special Requirements: If selected for employment all new hires must be willing to get vaccinated or provide proof of vaccination for Covid-19 prior to their start date.
